About Us

We work with people who have become paralyzed following a severe injury or illness,  by enhancing the connection to their nervous system, so that they may move, feel, function and walk again. Our facility, The Abilities Recovery Center, in Los Angeles California, offers specialized fitness programs combined with cutting edge equipment that allows our clients access to the essential standing exercises, and to safely learn how to walk again.

Activity Based Exercises

Activity Based Exercise

Activity Based Exercise is a one-on-one session with a specialist ranging from one to three hours. These sessions are physically demanding and combine many modalities devised from the functional goals determined between the client and specialist.

For ambulating clients a more conventional gait analysis and re-training will be completed with a focus on returning to a natural and efficient gait.

Initial Assessment

All clients new to our program will need to schedule an initial assessment. This appointment is 2 hours in duration and will be lead by a specialist.

Our Team

JEFF LEFKOVITZ

Jeff has specialized in working with people affected by paralysis since 2010. After achieving a Degree in Psychology, with a focus on neuropharmacology, Jeff shifted his paradigm from medicine based health care to natural therapies which led him to obtain degrees from Utah College of Massage Therapy in 1995 and Cleveland Chiropractic College in 1999. He later decided to pursue further certifications from the International Academy of Medical Acupuncture, CPT through NASM, Brimhall Technique, and Total Body Modification. He is the founder of Abilities Recovery Center (ARC) and creator of the Mobilization Activation Station (MAS).

DR. AMIT KHIMJI

Dr. Amit Khimji grew up in the United Kingdom where he studied European style Osteopathy and Naturopathy, at the British College Of Osteopathic Medicine. In 2015, he graduated with a Masters Degree in Osteopathy, a diploma in Osteopathy, and a diploma in Naturopathy. His fascination with the intricacy of the human body led him to move to the United States to pursue a Doctorate in Chiropractic. In 2018, Dr. Khimji graduated Magna Cum Laude from Life Chiropractic College West. His plethora of knowledge gives him a unique perspective on healthcare and allows him to understand the human body multidimensionally, helping people to truly express themselves, without the limits put on them by others, so that they can truly embrace their body’s innate ability to heal.

TOSSHO ALBA

Tossho received his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a focus on Rehabilitation and Therapeutic Exercise from California State University, Los Angeles. His experience includes providing exercise interventions for individuals that were affected due to a Cerebrovascular Accident, Traumatic brain injuries and working with adolescents providing sensory integration. With a deep understanding of the nervous system and body mechanics, Tossho brings his skill set and experience to Abilities Recovery Center to help individuals reach their goals.

SHAYAN FARZANEH

Shayane is a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. He studied Kinesiology at Moorpark Community College and is passionate about helping others and guiding them towards their recovery goals. He enjoys bodybuilding, cooking and being outdoors.

NYASHA ABRAMS

Nyasha graduated from California State University, Los Angeles with a Degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Rehabilitation and Therapeutic Exercise. Shortly after, she became a faculty member at California State University, Los Angeles teaching Kinesiology students how to treat Spinal Cord Injury, Traumatic Brain Injury, and various other Neurological Conditions. She's also a supervisor at the Rancho Los Amigos National Neurological Hospital. Her passion is to bring light and serve to the Neurological Community as much as she can. She wants people with disabilities to feel empowered and hopes to make a positive change in their lives.

TAVITHA TILITA

Tavitha graduated from the University of Social Sciences with a degree in Sociology from the University of Bucharest. Her passion for helping people and her curiosity about the human body led her to join the Abilities Recovery Center team as a clinic aide.

ROCKET - THERAPY DOG

3.5 year old Labradoodle. Loves to welcome clients to the clinic with a bark. Enjoys treats, walks, pats and sometimes playing with his little sister, Luna.

LUNA - THERAPY DOG (IN TRAINING)

5 month old Labrador puppy. Luna loves to give kisses, receive belly rubs and play (annoy) her big brother Rocket. She is slowly learning the ropes of the clinic.
